About Dua to Overcome Regrets & 'If Only' (Qadarullahi Wa Ma Sha'a Fa'al) & Its Spiritual Virtues
Authentic context, Hadith references, and Sunnah guidelines for reciting this Dua:
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed believers in Sahih Muslim (2664): 'Strive for that which benefits you, seek help from Allah, and do not lose heart. If something befalls you, do not say: If only I had done such and such, it would have been so and so. Rather say: Qadarullahi wa ma sha'a fa'al (It is the decree of Allah, and He does what He wills), for saying 'If only' opens the door for Satan's whispers.' Reciting this releases regret and instills true peace with Allah's Qadr.
