About this Supplication & Hadith Context
Meaning, spiritual background, and authentic virtues from the Sunnah
✦Two Words Beloved to Ar-Rahman, Heavy on the Scale
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said in the final Hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari (6682) and Sahih Muslim (2694): 'Two words are light on the tongue, heavy on the Balance, and beloved to the Most Merciful: SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi, SubhanAllahil-Azeem (Glory be to Allah and His praise, Glory be to Allah the Supreme).' Scholars note this is among the most concise, spiritually dense supplications in the entire Sunnah.
✦Forgiveness of Sins Even Like the Foam of the Sea
In another authentic narration in Sahih al-Bukhari (6405), the Prophet (PBUH) said: 'Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi 100 times a day, their sins will be forgiven even if they were like the foam of the sea.' Persisting in this Tasbeeh each morning and evening wipes away spiritual fatigue and fills the scale of good deeds.
