Surah Al-Ikhlas

'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad. Allahus-Samad. Lam yalid wa lam yulad. Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad.' Translation: 'Say, He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent.'

Scholars explain that the Quran comprises three primary domains: Tawhid (theology and divine attributes), Shariah (laws and rulings), and Akhbar (stories and moral lessons). Surah Al-Ikhlas purely expounds the divine attributes of Allah without distraction, representing the entire theological foundation of the Quran (Sahih al-Bukhari 5015).

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas yields the reward of one-third of the Quran. Reciting it three times grants a reward equivalent to the recitation of the whole Quran, though it does not replace the obligation to read and reflect upon the rest of the Quran.

It is Sunnah to recite Surah Al-Ikhlas 3 times every morning and evening alongside Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas for protection (Sunan Abi Dawud 5082), before sleeping, after each obligatory Salah (Sunan an-Nasa'i 1334), and in the Sunnah of Fajr and Maghrib prayers.
