"The complete guide to Tasbeeh Fatima Zahra (33-33-34). Authentic Hadith history (Bukhari 3113), rules for post-Salah and bedtime, and immense spiritual rewards."

The History of Tasbeeh Fatima Zahra (Sahih al-Bukhari 3113)

Tasbeeh Fatima (also known as Tasbeeh Fatima Zahra / تسبيح فاطمة الزهراء) is one of the most treasured gifts bequeathed by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to his beloved daughter, Lady Fatimah az-Zahra (RA), and her husband, Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA).

In Sahih al-Bukhari (3113) and Sahih Muslim (2727), Ali (RA) narrated the heartfelt incident:

Lady Fatimah’s hands were blistered and calloused from turning the stone hand-mill to grind flour for her household, and her neck bore marks from carrying heavy water skins. Hearing that some captives of war had arrived in Medina, she approached her father (PBUH) to request a domestic servant to help lighten her domestic burden.

The Prophet (PBUH) visited Fatimah and Ali at their home that night as they lay down to sleep. He sat gently between them and said:

*"Shall I not teach you something better than what you asked for? When you go to your bed, say SubhanAllah thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times. That is better for you than a servant."*

Ali (RA) was so deeply moved by the power of this advice that he declared years later: "By Allah, I have never abandoned it since I heard it from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)." When a companion asked, "Not even on the night of the Battle of Siffin?" Ali replied, "Not even on the night of Siffin."

The Two Authentic Ways to Practice Tasbeeh Fatima

1. The Bedtime Routine (33 • 33 • 34 = 100) When tucking into bed for the night: - SubhanAllah (سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ) — 33 Times - Alhamdulillah (ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ) — 33 Times - Allahu Akbar (اللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ)34 Times - Total: Exactly 100 recitations.

2. The Post-Salah Routine (33 • 33 • 33 + 1 = 100) Immediately following every obligatory (Fard) prayer: - SubhanAllah — 33 Times - Alhamdulillah — 33 Times - Allahu Akbar33 Times - Seal the 100th with: > لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ > (La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'ala kulli shay'in Qadeer)

Spiritual & Physical Virtues of Tasbeeh Fatima

  • Step 1Divine Strength and Energy: Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn al-Qayyim wrote that whoever persists in reciting these 100 words every night will find immense physical stamina throughout the day, eliminating lethargy and burnout.
  • Step 2Total Forgiveness of Sins: The Prophet (PBUH) promised that reciting this after prayer wipes away sins even if they equal the ocean's foam (Sahih Muslim 597).
  • Step 3Protection from Devilish Whispers: Saying Allahu Akbar 34 times before sleeping seals the consciousness in divine protection against nightmares and insomnia.
