✦Complete Step-by-Step Wudu (Ablution) Guide
Wudu (Ablution) is the essential Islamic ritual purification required before performing obligatory prayers (Salah), touching the Quran, or circumambulating the Kaaba (Tawaf). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) declared: "The prayer of none of you will be accepted if he invalidates his ablution until he performs Wudu again." (Sahih al-Bukhari 135).
✦Step-by-Step Wudu Process
Step 1: Make Niyyah (Intention) & Recite Bismillah Form a sincere intention in your heart to perform Wudu for Allah's pleasure, then say: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ (Bismillah - In the name of Allah).
Step 2: Wash Both Hands Up to Wrists (3 Times) Wash your right hand including wrists, fingers, and between the fingers 3 times, then do the same for the left hand 3 times.
Step 3: Rinse Mouth Thoroughly (3 Times) Take water into your right hand, rinse your mouth thoroughly, and spit it out 3 times.
Step 4: Sniff Water Into Nose & Blow Out (3 Times) Sniff water into your nostrils using your right hand and blow it out using your left thumb and pinky 3 times.
Step 5: Wash Full Face (3 Times) Wash your entire face 3 times from the hairline down to the chin, and from earlobe to earlobe.
Step 6: Wash Forearms Up to Elbows (3 Times) Wash your right arm from fingertips up to and including the elbow 3 times. Repeat 3 times for the left arm.
Step 7: Perform Masah of the Head & Ears (1 Time) Wet your hands and wipe them backwards from front hairline to the nape of the neck, then wipe back to the front. Insert wet index fingers into ear canals and wipe the outer ears with thumbs.
Step 8: Wash Both Feet Up to Ankles (3 Times) Wash your right foot up to and including the ankles 3 times, ensuring water cleans between toes. Repeat 3 times for the left foot.
✦Authentic Dua After Completing Wudu
Recite the Shahada followed by this Dua (Sahih Muslim 234):
Ash-hadu alla ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluhu. Allahumma-j'alni minat-tawwabina wa-j'alni minal-mutatahhirin.
Virtue: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that whoever recites this Dua after Wudu, all eight gates of Jannah will be opened for them to enter from whichever they wish! (Sunan at-Tirmidhi 55).
